Brazils Largest Trucking Companies: 5 Big Names in Freight

Have you ever had a delivery delayed because another company dropped the ball? If so, it’s worth getting to know Brazil’s largest trucking companies and reducing that risk.
Many businesses now see delivery as a deciding factor for customers. Shoppers are in a hurry and want their orders as fast as possible, with a high standard of service.
Today, the differences between companies are much smaller than they used to be. Your competitors likely offer similar products and services at similar prices. So how do you stand out?
By delivering an outstanding buying experience. And the first step is investing in the best partners and suppliers, starting with your carriers.
An industry with hundreds of thousands of companies
Brazil has more than 970,000 registered road freight companies, according to Econodata. Given the country’s heavy reliance on highways, that’s no surprise. But with so many options, how do you find the largest and best-rated ones?
How we built this list
There’s no single ranking of Brazilian carriers, so we drew on three industry references:
- Maiores & Melhores do Transporte 2025 yearbook from OTM Editora, publisher of the trade magazines Transporte Moderno and Technibus. It evaluates companies based on 1,200 financial statements and recognizes the largest by revenue and the best by performance.
- Econodata’s revenue ranking, which lists Brazil’s largest road freight companies.
- Top do Transporte, from the trade magazines Logweb and Frota&Cia, based on a survey of shippers. The latest edition was published in 2020.
Because each source measures something different, the list below isn’t a ranking. It’s a selection of five big names, each with the reason it made the cut.
5 big trucking companies in Brazil
1. JSL
JSL was named the largest road freight company by net operating revenue in the Maiores & Melhores do Transporte 2025 yearbook. Listed on Brazil’s B3 stock exchange, it reported revenue of about R$9.8 billion over 12 months, based on September 2026 data.
JSL provides road freight and dedicated logistics operations for large manufacturers, making it a benchmark for high-volume operations.
2. Tegma
Tegma was named the best company in the road freight sector in the same 2025 yearbook. Headquartered in São Bernardo do Campo, São Paulo, it’s one of Brazil’s largest vehicle logistics companies and operates in two areas: automotive logistics, moving new vehicles for automakers, and integrated logistics.
3. Coopercarga
Coopercarga, based in Concórdia, Santa Catarina, ranked among the 8 largest and 10 best freight companies in the 2025 yearbook, a position it has held for several years.
In addition to road freight, Coopercarga offers warehousing, port operations, and dedicated operations.
4. FedEx
FedEx ranks among Brazil’s largest road freight companies by revenue, according to Econodata. Its Brazilian operation absorbed the former TNT Mercúrio, one of the carriers shippers mentioned most over the past decade.
It handles domestic and international deliveries by road, air, and courier.
5. Braspress
Braspress, founded in 1977 by Urubatan Helou and Milton Petri, is one of Brazil’s largest parcel carriers. It won the Top do Transporte National Preference category five years in a row, through the latest edition in 2020, reflecting ratings from its own customers.
It covers all of Brazil and stands out for its investment in automation, parcel traceability, and risk management. According to figures the company published in 2020, it handled about 60,000 deliveries a day.
How to choose the right carrier
Being big doesn’t make a carrier the best fit for every operation. Beyond these five, names such as Rodonaves, Patrus, and Jamef, which specialize in less-than-truckload (LTL) freight, often appear in industry ratings. When choosing, consider:
- specialization: does the carrier handle your type of freight (LTL, dedicated, vehicles, parcels)?
- coverage: does it reach every region where your customers are?
- service level: which performance indicators does it track and share?
- technology: does it offer tracking and integration with your systems?
- risk management: how does it protect cargo from theft and damage?
And remember: even when you outsource transportation, your company is still responsible for the delivery.
