Innovation with instant answers
The gas company uses the Maplink Cloud Toll API to calculate toll charges along the routes driven by the trucks that transport its cryogenic liquids. Logistics planning is done in advance by an in-house automation system, and the planned routes are passed on to the partner carrier, which reports back the actual details of each trip.
Once the reported route is logged, Messer checks the information provided. This is when the Toll API is called to calculate tolls between the origin, intermediate and destination points, verifying the sequence of toll plazas and the number of axles in line with regulations. Over time, discrepancies emerged in the amounts drivers reported paying, which led Messer and its partner carrier to run training on the rules for lifting axles on the road.
“We saw both the need and the opportunity to automate some steps of our logistics process to close a few gaps and optimize our operating costs. We chose Maplink because its API was a quick, easy solution to integrate into our system”

Strong results that made history
The change in how tolls are calculated delivered three benefits: financial savings, a positive operational impact and internal recognition. After two months in production, the Toll Control – RPA project cut toll costs by 10%, while also improving the relationship with the carrier and extending fleet service life. The Cost and Performance team, together with the Data Analyst team, won an award at Messer One in the efficiency and cost category in November 2022.
“This project had a very positive impact on the company and on the whole team involved, because we were able to show that we can improve our operation even further. Our process used to be manual, and now it's automated”
Aline Paraizo — Performance Coordinator, Messer Gases Brasil
